Summer county song

I once met a girl with a rose in her hands,
I smiled through her fingers and gave her my ring,
she smiled through her lips, we made love on the sands.

I took both her hands and asked for her name,
that night we stared at the stars in the woods,
she smiled and she said “Don’t ask, it’s the same”.

The grass grew so high, the sun became friend.
Now I’m too old too make love, and too young to forget,
I only remember she had a rose in her hands.
